    Petoskey High School Renaissance Program
Now in its third year at Petoskey High School, the Jostens Renaissance Program celebrates student and staff achievements -- both inside and outside of the classroom -- in an intentional way.  Renaissance initiatives planned for the 2012-2013 school year include:

    • Freshman Mentor Program
    • Student of the Month
    • Perfect Attendance Recognition
    • Cocoa & Cram
    • Week of Change
    • "Live Now" Presentation featuring Jason Raitz
    • People's Choice Awards

    Perfect attendance, no tardies
Seventeen PHS students had perfect attendance and no tardies during the first semester of the school year.  Pictured are, back row, from left:  Travis Seagmen, Tom Bullman, Brittni Daley, Marshal Keller, Jakob Lightfoot and Adam Wagenschutz.  Middle row, from left:  Kelly Belski, Rachel Armock, Breanna Jewell, Mason Norton and Jenny Downey.  Front row, from left:  Matthew Aghajeri, Zach Smith, Taylor Bentley, Marissa Ball and Cody Minton.  Not pictured:  Erik Carlson.

Students take advantage of Cocoa & Cram
PHS students were able to take advantage of a unique opportunity before semester exams in January.  Many students showed up for Renaissance’s third annual Cocoa & Cram event.  Teachers and student mentors were on hand to offer study tips and explain key concepts.  Of course, there was plenty of cocoa, too!  From left, students Emily Matz, Carrie Coy and Marrin Holliday work alongside English teacher Samantha Fettig during Renaissance’s “Cocoa & Cram” event before semester exams.

    PHS students "Caught Being Kind"

Twenty-one students were “Caught Being Kind” during a recent Renaissance recognition. Staff members nominated students they noticed doing something good – whether it was helping a fellow student or picking up litter in the hallways.  In every case, the student acted out of kindness without seeking any reward or recognition.  PHS Renaissance was happy to reward these 21 students with a treat from Johan’s.  Back row, from left:  Courtney Coveyou, Brittany Lightfoot, Spencer Goodrich, Brooke LaBlance, Devon Schildge, Connor Ingleson and Joe LeBlanc.  Middle row, from left:  Jordan Marihugh, Jacob Delacruz, Nikki Schlueter, Jacalyn Webster, Dana Reynolds and Jacob Foucault.  Front row, from left:  James Huntman, Rodnie Rutterbush, Alex Gutowski and Eric Hoffman.  Not pictured:  BJ Chatterson, Sean Cross, Paige Levitte and Kelly Norberg.
