PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF PETOSKEY
FEBRUARY 2, 2019
The Public Schools of Petoskey Board of Education is beginning the search process for a new Superintendent of Schools. Dr. John Scholten has announced his retirement, effective at the end of the 2018-19 school year. Dr. Scholten has successfully served as superintendent for fourteen years.
Michigan Leadership Institute (MLI) has been selected by the board to facilitate the search process. Dave Killips, Regional President with MLI, will be working directly with the board, staff, community and potential candidates throughout the process. MLI has successfully helped school districts with approximately 400 superintendent searches in Michigan.
The Board of Education is responsible for hiring the new superintendent. However, the board recognizes the importance of this decision for not only the school district, but for the entire community as well. The board wishes to gather information from the public as a candidate profile and final job posting will be completed. Your input, via a survey on our website by clicking , is requested and appreciated. The input gathered will be anonymous.
The community input will be gathered from 8:00 am February 12 until 4:00 pm February 19.
A timeline of the process is posted. As additional information becomes available it will be shared with the community via our website.
The Board of Education appreciates everyone’s input as we continue our strong tradition with our schools as “A Special Place for Everyone”.
